Living in Münsterland: city, country & somewhere in between

Living in the city, in the countryside or somewhere in between? Depending on your preference and budget, everything is possible in Münsterland.

It's no secret that rents in Münster City are through the roof and that finding an affordable apartment of your own is not necessarily easy. However, if you expand your radius a little, you are sure to find what you are looking for very quickly. Districts further outside of the popular university city such as Hiltrup, Kinderhaus & Co. are also very liveable - for some people, perhaps even more attractive than the bustling city center. So if you don't yet live in Münster or the surrounding area, but would like to work here in Münsterland, you should also consider neighboring towns such as Telgte, Havixbeck, Greven, Senden & Co. when looking for accommodation. The district towns are not far from Münster and can be reached quickly thanks to good connections.

Are you more of a country person? That's no problem either. With countless small towns and idyllic villages, Münsterland offers plenty of living space for country lovers. Once again, it is noticeable that Münsterland has already gained a lot of experience as a commuter region and that working in Münsterland and living in the surrounding area works extremely well.

Culture in the Münsterland

Culture, sport, nature & Co. - leisure time in Münsterland

After work comes pleasure. And where better to enjoy your free time than in the diverse Münsterland region? For young singles, couples or families - the Münsterland has something for everyone.

Culture

While cities such as Münster or Coesfeld attract culture enthusiasts with theater performances, a varied cinema program and numerous museums, the palace and castle landscape offers an alternative program worth seeing in the countryside. Nordkirchen Castle, Hülshoff Castle and Cappenberg Castle, for example, are always worth a visit. Events such as town festivals, open-air cinemas, concerts of all musical genres and the Send, which takes place several times a year, ensure that there is never a dull moment. You can find all upcoming events in the Münsterland e.V. events calendar.

Sport

Would you like more action in your free time? Soccer, tennis, bouldering, martial arts or even sailing on Lake Aa? In the active region, there are tours, clubs or locations for pretty much every type of sport. The charming villages and small towns in the region can be explored on hikes or bike tours. In summer, various bathing lakes, rivers and the Dortmund-Ems Canal (although the latter is not official) invite you to sunbathe and swim , and SUPs, rowing boats and canoes are also an excellent way to explore the landscape. Last but not least, the Münsterland is considered the place to be when it comes to equestrian sport when it comes to horse riding. Countless riding stables and miles of riding tours make the hearts of horse lovers beat faster.

Nature in the Münsterland

Nature

Being close to nature and sustainability are two aspects that are very close to the hearts of the people of Münsterland. While this naturally includes regional shopping, for example at farmers' markets or in farm stores, the beautiful landscape is also highly valued. No matter where you are at home in Münsterland, you are never far from your doorstep to the next nature experience. Extensive green spaces, fields and over 4500 kilometers of cycle paths invite you to go for walks and bike rides.

Gastronomy & nightlife

If you love Westphalian cuisine , you've come to the right place in Münsterland. Almost every village, no matter how small, has at least one restaurant that invites day-trippers to enjoy a hearty or sweet snack or a cool refreshment, especially in summer. The more urban it gets, the more varied the culinary offerings become. In the cities, food and drink from different nations can be sampled in small and large venues and delicious coffee can be enjoyed in cozy cafés. There is also a wide range of bars and clubs for party animals in the cities.

Shopping & Shopping

While more and more cities across Germany are affected by vacancies in former shopping areas, retail is booming in Münsterland. In Münster in particular, you will find everything your heart desires. Well-known clothing stores, electrical retailers and stores for kitchen and home accessories as well as small, individual boutiques and stores not only attract people from Münsterland, the city also regularly welcomes visitors from the Netherlands. Not to be forgotten is the Münster market, which offers fresh produce from the region twice a week and invites you to enjoy a relaxed start to the weekend.
